Experience the highest standard in fiberglass repairs and new construction with our TITAN VEX, a Vinyl Ester / Polyester Fiberglass Laminating Blended Resin. This resin makes boatyard resins shake in their keel; it's a premium marine-grade product designed for the harshest waters and trusted by leading RV and boat manufacturers. Our Vinyl Ester based resin is perfect for a wide range of applications, from building and repairing watercraft, surfboards, and auto bodies to working on bathtubs and showers. Its exceptional versatility makes it an ideal choice for FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) parts and all glass laminating projects as well as a host of other applications.
✅ PREMUIM / TOP TIER - This VEX Fiberglass Laminating Resin is the highest grade you will find. A premium product used in the marine industry and by most RV and Boat manufacturers that demand high quality. Marine Grade Resin. Each Gallon includes a 2oz bottle of MEKP (catalyst) with it and pipette(s) are included (order 5 gallons and get 5 x 2oz bottles of MEKP).
✅ CURES FULLY in 24-36hrs without wax - Use this resin on Wood, Fiberglass, or Metal without any hassle. Depending on temperature and humidity, it can reach its cured stage in as quick as 6 hours but may take up to 24-36 hours depending on amount of MEKP added or if temperatures are lower than 72°F, If temperatures are too low it will take even longer.
✅ CURES TACK FREE (no wax is present in this resin) after 18-36hrs - Manufactured in the USA, this VE/Polyester-type resin cures tack free in 18-36hrs. For faster time to full cure / no tack; wax may be added to reduce tack time to less than 18hrs, peel ply will give you an amazingly smooth finish.
✅ MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS - This Vinyl Ester / Poly fiberglass resin is great for the following applications: marine, general purpose fiberglass laminating, aerospace, FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) parts, auto body, transportation, wood, and much more
✅ HIGH COMPATIBILITY - Compatible with all types of Fiberglass and coring materials, including expanded PVC coring and so much more, this VE/Poly laminating resin is perfect for high quality repairs, new construction parts, and vertical surface laminations.
✅ From Water crafts to Bathrooms - Upgrade your building and repairs with our general-purpose marine fiberglass resin. You can confidently use it on a boat, surfboard, automobile, and even a bathtub or shower. Gelcoat adheres with a superior bond to this resin as well.
✅ Mix Ratio chart is on the label for easy reference to mix according to your desired work time. MIX FULLY to ensure a complete and full reaction. Scrape the sides and bottom of the mixing container you are using to ensure a complete mix. Easy to saturate, this high wetting resin impregnates fibrous material quickly and can be applied using spray guns or hand layups. The set includes MEKP hardener, 1x 2oz bottle for each gallon of resin purchased and a pipette per 3 gallons, order 4-5 gallons and you'll get 2 pipettes.
✅ Excellent Tackiness - Our TITAN VEX fiberglass resin stays tacky for several hours, this allows for easier application and to stack layers of reinforcement materials, creating excellent layer adhesion.
✅ Everything You Need: Each gallon of our fiberglass laminating resin comes with a 2oz bottle of MEKP catalyst, ensuring you have the necessary hardener to get the job completed. The resin container includes a convenient mix ratio chart on the label for easy reference. This resin can be applied using spray guns or traditional hand layups.
Important Mixing & Application Guidelines:
- Mix Thoroughly: Always scrape the sides and bottom of your container to ensure the resin and catalyst are 100% combined. Unmixed portions will leave uncured spots on your project. Use a smooth-sided container and avoid using drill mixing bits.
- Work in Small Batches: Mix only what you can easily apply within 7 minutes. Start with a 1-pint batch to gauge your working time. Do not mix more than 1 to 2 quarts at once, as larger batches generate excess heat and cure prematurely.
- Rough it up: sand or grind the surface to create clean and rough surface with a "tooth" for the resin to grab onto (a mechanical bond).
- Clean it off: Before applying the resin, the surface must be completely wiped down with a solvent like acetone to remove dust, wax, and grease. The surface must be 100% dry before the resin touches it.
- Summer Weather Adjustments: During hot summer months, consider reducing your catalyst ratio to 0.75% to extend your working time before the resin gels.
- The Danger of "Hot Batches" (Over-Catalyzing): Adding too much catalyst causes an aggressive exothermic reaction. The resin can smoke, crack, warp the project, or even catch fire in the mixing cup.
- Manage Sunlight: Avoid applying the resin in direct sunlight, which drastically accelerates the cure time. If it is over 75°F, work in the shade. Once the application is complete, you can move your project into the sun to help speed up the final curing process.
- Moisture: Applying resin to damp wood or working in extremely high humidity/rainy conditions can inhibit the cure, causing the resin to stay cloudy or tacky. Everything must be bone dry.
- Clean-Up Requires Acetone: be sure to routinely clean your tools, brushes and so on with acetone as it will dissolve the resin. Mineral Spirits and other cleaners are not effective.
- Proper storage to maximize shelf life: store the resin and the MEKP catalyst in a cool, dark, and dry climate-controlled environment. Leaving it in a hot garage or freezing shed will ruin the product.
- Coverage Estimate: As a general rule, 1 gallon of resin will wet out approximately 40–50 square feet of 1.5 oz chopped strand mat, or roughly 4 square yards of standard fiberglass cloth, depending on application thickness and technique.
-
Proper Safety Gear (PPE) is Non-Negotiable:
- Ventilation & Respirators: always work in a well-ventilated area and it is strongly recommend a respirator fitted with organic vapor cartridges be used.
- Gloves: Gloves must be used, heavy duty gloves are encouraged. Nitrile gloves are okay, but latex tends to be better. The chemicals in polyester resin can break down cheaper nitrile, leaving hands exposed and sticky.
-
If exposed skin comes in contact with resin, catalyst or both. clean affected area immediately. Be very cautious in use of acetone anywhere near your body. Use soap and water and clean vigorously and thoroughly.
